You’ll Need:

1/2 cup Vanilla Whey
1/4 cup of Flaked Coconut (try toasting your own!)

In a small bowl mix the vanilla whey with the flour of your choice. Since oat flour is super cheap and easy to make at home, we opted to use that. Add the milk and coconut, mixing well. Shape into 4 bars. Melt the chocolate in the microwave (15 seconds at a time to avoid melting too fast and stir in between) or over a double boiler. Dip each bar into the melted chocolate, coating it well in about a Tablespoon of melted chocolate. Alternatively, you can pour the melted chocolate over the tops of each bar.

Freeze for about 20 minutes.

These are wonderful if made with a very, very dark chocolate.

I highly recommend going to a health store, vitamin store, etc.. And asking for vanilla whey protein… With different flavors for very different brand, you may like one and not another. It took me a while to find one I actually liked.

I love metrx…taste like vanilla cake mix lol. Samples help a lot! So I didn’t waste money.

I highly recommend going to a health store, or vitamin store, and asking for samples for vanilla whey protein powders.. Or any flavor for the matter… Chocolate might be good with this recipe too

You may go through a lot of different brands before you find one you like.. I know I did! Samples were a godsend. I really like vanilla and chocolate metrx, the vanilla tastes like vanilla better, and the Chocolate tastes like chocolate pudding.

      Yum!

  2. Yes, but we have, but if you don’t already consume a brand of vanilla whey that you enjoy don’t bother running out to buy one just to make protein bars!

Vanilla whey is one of those hit or miss kind of things, you can take a great recipe and make it taste like a pile of horse manure by using the wrong whey.

  3. For me, I calculated the cost of homemade protein bars to be at least $1-$1.50 each given protein powder is $16/pound making 20 bars per pound of protein powder. So the bottom line I use is the price of the protein powder alone which for me equals at least 80cents/bar, cheaper than p90x brand at $2.50/bar, and healthier than some other brand names, but technically not a whole lot cheaper.

  4. Can I substitute a protein dry shake mix for the whey ?
