I made half the recipe and 3 servings is about right. I used hot sausage that i had on hand, didn't add flour, used both beans, and served with cheddar. It was nice and thick and had a good kick to it. My poblano was large.

My family loves this recipe! I used Northern beans instead of pinto and substitute cornstarch for the flour to make it gluten free. Tons of flavor and very filling! Great with chips.

YES! Italian sausage just didn't do it for me in chili. Agree with you on all counts Cissie.

Our favorite chili recipe is for chicken chili in the crock pot, but I'm on vacation without my slow cooker and was looking for a similar recipe. This fit the bill with the following adjustments, based on what was available: one pound ground chicken instead of sausage, increase oregano and cumin to about 1 tsp and add a tsp coriander, and sub 1 10-oz can Rotel tomatoes and chiles and 1 14-oz can fire-roasted tomatoes for the 28-oz tomatoes. I sautéed the onions for about 8 minutes then added garlic and spices and sautéed, stirring constantly, for about 45 seconds, then added the ground chicken and browned it, then added beans, tomatoes and broth. The chili thickened up nicely in 25 minutes, then the flour and broth slurry thickened it even more, which was very satisfying and chunky - we hate a thin, soupy chili! I will definitely add this easy, quick dish into the rotation

I... Simplified the recipe. Cooked all meat in a skillet, then added all other ingredients including cooked meat to crock pot. Boom. Done.

I've been making this recipe for a year, and my friends ask for it every time we get together! I'm celiac, so I swap cornstarch for flour - so easy. This chili is mouth-watering yumminess!!

This is my husband and my all time favorite chili! The poblano peppers give it a little kick, but mostly add to the richness of the flavors! It is easy to spice up a little bit more if that's how you like it. I now keep the ingredients on hand to make it anytime we're in the mood for a great, warming meal!

I found this to be rather flat tasting; after doctoring it up it was okay, but nothing to write home about. To remedy the flat taste, I tried adding--to 3 different servings-- (1) salt, (2) red wine vinegar and salt, and (3) less-sodium soy sauce. The soy sauce had the best effect, and were I to make this again, I'd add a couple of tablespoons to the pot, along with some seasonings to add more heat. I used fresh mild Italian chicken sausages in place of the turkey ones, and used parsley in place of the cilantro as I don't care for the latter.

Am I the only person who found the taste of the turkey Italian sausage strange for chili? I have used that in spaghetti and it was great, but think ground beef or ground turkey would have been MUCH better. Also did not find the sauce itself as tasty as my other chili recipes...nothing to do with amount of spice as that can always be revved up or down...just not a good recipe to me.

DH really liked this thicker, heartier chili. I went to 2 markets and neither had poblanos. I had to settle for jalapeno (I used one). The flavors were good - I bet lunch will be even better tomorrow. I think a can of sliced olives could be a nice addition to this. I'll make it again.

We had never tried turkey italian sausage before and honestly couldn't tell the difference in this recipe, it was excellent. Added a jalapeno as we like spice and used greek yogurt instead of sour cream. It froze very well and was just as good out of the freezer.

I could not find poblano peppers at our grocery store, so I used anaheim peppers instead. I was really impressed with the flavor that came out of this dish. I never thought to add turkey sausage to chili before, but the flavors were amazing together.

I like trying new chili recipes and this one was good, but I've made better. I did add hamburger (and glad I did) I also used a habanero instead of Poblano for more spice. Over all could have been more flavorful, but I'm glad I tried it. Liked the cilantro addition!

This was so good, I wish I had doubled the recipe to have more leftovers! I used half a jalapeño because I had it in the fridge, plus one large poblano. I also added more onion and garlic and more sausage, because I like a thick chili. I didn't do the flour thing and it turned out just fine. I thought the radishes were a strange idea, but they really work! This goes in my "keep" file.

Terrific. Used Ground Turkey instead of sausage to cut down on sodium but this recipe is dead simple and really great... the use of the peppers is the key, well done recipe all around.

I made it as directed the first time and it was good. This time, I did it in the crock pot, and pretty much doubled the spices and added 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika. Emeril would say BAM! but I can't say anything 'cause my mouth is full of this good stuff! Oh, and try it with fire-roasted tomatoes!

Just came here to throw another five-star review on the pile. This recipe is truly amazing. My boyfriend is still talking about it weeks later; I'll be making it again this weekend. The only thing I accidentally altered was throwing a roasted anaheim chile in with the poblanos (which I also roasted and peeled). I think it was a good addition! ;-) You've gotta serve with with the radishes and sour cream. SO good! :-)

Loved this chili recipe! Neither my husband nor I could get enough of this filling dish (and I don't usually like chili at all!) I was worried about the beans, but both were fantastic in the dish. I added more garlic, increased spice amounts for more flavor, used a red onion, used Mexican blend for the diced tomatoes, added 1 jalapeno and used hot turkey sausage (Jennie-O), but otherwise made as directed. It was perfect with well developed flavors (shocking for how quick / easy this one is). Absolutely will be making this one again! Enjoy!

Great! I didn't have turkey sausage so i subbed Trader Joe's Sweet Italian Chicken Sausage links. I just chopped them up, so it wasn't ground like the recipe would have, but it was totally fine that way. It was a bit more soupy than chile I usually make, but not watery. We ate it with some tortilla chips instead of the cornbread. The only thing is that my recipe calorie calculator (myfitnesspal - which scans bar codes) had a higher calories count per serving, about 40-50 more. That may be due to my sub of chicken sausage, but that was a total of 400 calories and I would think it would be comparable to turkey sausage. And I didn't use the sour cream either. Maybe my brand of beans were higher than those used by CL? Other than that, super tasty and my husband loved it!

WONDERFUL! Easy, delish and as another poster said - low in Weight Watchers points! My one tip - use a glove when cutting up the poblanos. I didn't realize how spicy they are uncooked and they actually caused a bit of burning on my skin. I was out of chili powder and oregano (go figure) so I used almost 2 tbsp of my homemade taco seasoning which is similar and it worked great. Highly recommend this for anyone looking for a fast and tasty chili recipe!

I've made a lot of chilis from CookingLight, but this one by far is a crowd pleaser. Not too spicy for my family, and low points for me and my Weight Watcher regime. I let it simmer longer than the suggested time and didn't add the flour at the end since I'm gluten-free and the extra time allowed it to become thick. Really delicious!

This recipe was so easy and was great to make for watching football. We like more spice and smokey flavor, so I added a third poblano, some chipotle powder and ancho chile powder. And since we had an abundance of summer tomatoes I used diced fresh tomatoes instead of canned. It was delish!

This was a delicious, and quick Chil - we loved it! I did however made a few changes based on the All-American Two Turkey Chili - I increased the chili powder to 1 1/2 tbsp and doubled oregano and cumin. Also, instead of using 2 extra tbsp of chicken broth I reserved 2 tbsp of liquid from the tomatoes and subbed 1 tbsp arrowroot for the flour. Really, really tasty and definitely in the rotation for a quick hearty meal.
