"2024 elections are to save the Constitution": Former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav
Amidst the ongoing second phase of Lok Sabha elections, former Uttar Pradesh Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav addressed a public rally in UP's Kannauj and said that the 2024 elections are to save the Constitution.
Speaking at the rally, Akhilesh Yadav said, "The BJP is helping big businessmen while the INDIA alliance and SP will help the poor... This election is also to save the Constitution. You must have seen, the BJP wants to finish the Constitution. Remember, if the Constitution finishes, our right to vote will also end. There will be no right to vote."

Priyanka Gandhi calls for polling in record numbers in phase 2

Voting begins in 89 seats in second phase of Lok Sabha elections
Polling commenced Friday in 89 constituencies spread across 13 states and Union Territories in the second phase of the 18th Lok Sabha elections
Lok Sabha Polls 2024 Phase 2 LIVE UPDATES: The largest-ever election in history, voting for Lok Sabha Polls 2024 Phase 2 begins today in 88 constituencies spread across 13 states and Union Territories (UTs) amid tight security.
Polling is taking place in various states across India. This includes all 20 seats in Kerala, 14 out of 28 seats in Karnataka, 13 seats in Rajasthan, eight seats each in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, six seats in Madhya Pradesh, five seats each in Assam and Bihar, three seats each in Chhattisgarh and West Bengal, and one seat each in Manipur, Tripura, and Jammu and Kashmir.

Prominent candidates contesting in Lok Sabha Phase 2 includes - Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar from Thiruvananthapuram, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor also contesting from Thiruvananthapuram, BJP's Tejasvi Surya from Bengaluru South, Hema Malini from Mathura, Arun Govil from Meerut, Rahul Gandhi from Wayanad representing Congress, DK Suresh, the brother of Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, from Bangalore Rural, former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy from Mandya, Independent candidate Pappu Yadav from Purnia, and CPI's Annie Raja from Wayanad.

Notably, as per the schedule announced by the Election Commission of India (ECI), the third phase is scheduled to be held on May 7, fourth phase on May 13, fifth phase on May 20, sixth phase on May 25 and the last phase on June 1. The counting of votes will be held on June 4.
