This easy stir fry Honey Hoisin Chicken with Green Beans recipe gets great flavor from both honey and hoisin sauce with a fresh burst from green beans.
When I was growing up, my family didn’t eat rice often. That all changed when my husband came around. His family ate rice routinely – like all the time!
After all these years I have definitely gone to the “rice side” and many of our favorite meals incorporate rice with the top places on the list going to picadillo served over rice, fried rice with chicken and veggies and stir-fry with rice!!
My go-to choices for stir-fry are chicken for a protein along with a veggie or sometimes using a bag of frozen mixed stir-fry vegetables.
And then comes the sauce. My very favorite is a homemade hoisin and honey based sauce. That’s what I use in this Honey Hoisin Chicken with Green Beans recipe.
Lastly, for the crowning touch, I serve every stir-fry with rice.
🧾 Ingredients Needed
For Sauce:
- Honey adds a touch of sweetness to the dish.
- Hoisin Sauce, which you can find in the Asian aisle of your supermarket, packs a lot of flavor.
- Soy Sauce adds even more flavor. You can use low sodium soy sauce or Tamari sauce in its place.
- Garlic is minced before adding to the sauce. Fresh garlic is best.
- Fresh Ginger is also minced to add a fresh and very slightly spicy flavor.
- Crushed Red Pepper can be adjusted to be more or less hot.
- Salt and Pepper
For the Stir Fry:
- Canola Oil is a good neutral oil for cooking.
- Boneless ChickenBreast cut into small chunks can cook quickly and evenly.
- Onion (a small one is fine) adds more flavor.
- Fresh Green Beans are the best choice, but you can also use frozen.

I found out that theMinute® Multi-grain Medley is also great for breakfast! I had some left over for dinner, so I just heated it in the microwave, added in a bit of pure maple syrup and topped with milk. Since the box comes in pre-portioned bags I know that I can now make it fresh for breakfast any time!
